Commercial Property, Isle of Dogs
The Project
Due to the recent 2013/2014 UK flooding, Adler & Allan were asked to carry out an initial flood assessment on a commercial property and recommend appropriate flood mitigation measures. Our client, who was concerned following flooding in the area, wanted to ensure his property was secure from any flooding scenarios.

The Solution
Even though the initial assessment revealed to us that the flood risk area was fairly low, because of the sensitivity of the building, the client wanted us to re-assess the property for the worst case scenario.Taking this scenario into account, we concluded that the flood level could breach the threshold of the building. CE equipment, and measurement tools were used for confirmation. Expert analysis of published data from a range of sources, including the Environment Agency also concluded our result.A selection of flood mitigation products were recommended to prevent this problem from happening should the case arise. Our recommendations included; perimeter walls, self closing barriers, sumps/pumps, non return valves to the drains and sealing service entry points under the floors.
The Outcome
Further to our recommendations, Adler & Allan produced a flood plan and our client has confirmed he would like us to install a selection of flood mitigation products, provide training and possibly engage us on a termed flood response contract.
